Tentative Schedule: Tuesday, May 19, 2009 * 6:00 Informal reception and brewery tour at Midnight Sun Brewing Company for competitors and guests. Admisson: free - RSVP required. * 6:00 Informal BTUSA gathering downtown, location TBD. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 * 18:00 Official Welcome Picnic for all competitors and guests at the Kincaid Chalet. Hosted by SCAKBMC and local Lions Clubs. Shuttle busses available. Admission: free. Thursday, May 21, 2009 * Self guided opportunities for Alaskan adventures including fishing, hiking, sightseeing, wildlife viewing, etc. Friday, May 22, 2009 * 12:15 - 3:00 World Beard and Moustache Association Meeting at the Dena'ina Center. Open to the public. * 4:00 Parade of Beards through downtown Anchorage and Welcome Rally in Town Square. Admission: free. * 6:30 Kick Off Party & AK Grizzly Beard Contest at the Dena'ina Center. Entertainment by the Australian Band "The Beards." Saturday, May 23, 2009 * 10:00 - 12:00 Final registration and pre-judging. All contestants must appear for verification that they are entered in the correct category. Late registrations will be accepted. * 12:30 Appearance at the Saturday Market downtown Anchorage. * 1:30 Doors open at the Dena'ina Center for the 9th World Beard and Moustache Championships. * 2:00 Moustache and Partial Beard judging begins. * 5:00 Contest Intermission, music and dancing. * 7:00 Full Beard judging begins. Sunday, May 24, 2009 * 12:00 Excursion to Portage Glacier Cruise, AK Wildlife Center, and Crow Creek Mine Picnic for farewell beer and brats. Cost: $60.00 per person. |
